Occupational Health and Safety
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Safety is the number one priority at UDS. We are committed to providing the safest conditions practicable for our employees, clients, and stakeholders. Our industry-leading health and safety record is backed by our comprehensive management system known as “DrillSafe.”
The DrillSafe Management System
- Sandvik DE840 Drill Rigs – with capacity up to 2223m core depth, full safety systems, dust suppression, fire protection, and mounted on all-terrain Mercedes carriers.
- LF160 Handsfree Exploration Rigs – we own the largest private fleet in the Southern Hemisphere, with over 70,000 operating hours LTI free. Fully handsfree rod handling improves both safety and efficiency.
- Hydco 1200 Multipurpose Rig – a “go anywhere, do anything” rig capable of R/C, core drilling, and mud rotary programs, mounted on a TATRA 8x8 carrier built for extreme terrain.
- UDR650 Rigs – versatile medium-sized rigs ideal for pre-collars and core programs in challenging locations.
- Desco SP7000SA Rigs – compact but powerful rigs with high torque and pullback, designed for minimal disturbance pads in sensitive environments.
- 70T C-Tech Rapid Service Rigs – highly mobile rigs with water tanks, hydraulic cat-walks, and all necessary support equipment for completions and workovers.
Recognised Safety Performance
Our commitment to safety has been recognised across multiple projects. As Martin Bennett of Vectorex Geological Services commented:
“Despite difficult ground conditions and poor circulation, UDS managed to complete the
majority of holes planned while maintaining efficient and courteo
us crews. Their approach to
safety and professionalism was clear throughout the project.”
